Our customers entrust us with what is often their most precious digital asset, their data, so the stakes couldn't be higher. We're looking for a Brand Designer to help shape and evolve the visual identity of PlanetScale across all touchpoints.
In this role, you'll be a key member of our Marketing team, translating complex technical concepts into compelling visual stories that resonate with developers and technical decision-makers.
You'll craft everything from in-person event experiences to web graphics, merch designs, and creative website assets that make databases feel exciting. What's the job to be done?
Visual Brand Development Design web graphics including technical diagrams, illustrations, and interactive visual assets that simplify complex database concepts. Create compelling visual systems for campaigns, product launches, and marketing initiatives.
Design for multiple formats and contexts: digital, print, experiential, and merchandise. In-Person Experiences Design booth graphics, signage, and environmental branding for conferences, meetups, and community events.
Key Responsibilities
- Brand Evolution Collaborate with marketing leadership to evolve and expand the PlanetScale brand identity.
- Self-directed and able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Comfortable using AI to build a working first draft of a page rather than handing off a static mockup.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- You'll craft everything from in-person event experiences to web graphics, merch designs, and creative website assets that make databases feel exciting.
- In-Person Experiences Design booth graphics, signage, and environmental branding for conferences, meetups, and community events.
- Collaborate with the events team to create memorable, on-brand experiences that stand out Design merch that developers actually want to wear and use.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating versatile design skills across digital, print, and experiential design.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to both articulate design decisions and understand direction.
- Experience designing for technical or developer-focused brands.
